Andy Weir’s Next Book: What We Know So Far

Andy Weir, the bestselling author of The Martian, Artemis, and Project Hail Mary, is set to release a new science fiction novel. While the title and plot details remain under wraps (for now), the book has already sparked significant anticipation. Publisher Del Rey has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, while Ballantine Books (PRH US) secured world rights in a high-profile deal.

Weir, known for his ability to blend hard science with humor and compelling storytelling, has become one of the most recognizable names in modern science fiction. His last novel, Project Hail Mary (2021), received critical acclaim and is currently being adapted into a film starring Ryan Gosling, with Weir himself co-writing the screenplay.

Ben Brusey, publishing director at Del Rey, described Weir as “science fiction’s heir apparent to Douglas Adams and Arthur C. Clarke” and emphasized that every new Andy Weir book is a major event in the literary world. Given Weir’s track record, his next book is expected to deliver the same mix of scientific accuracy, humor, and human drama that fans have come to love.

While details are limited for now, here’s a look back at Weir’s major works leading up to this highly anticipated release.

  1. Will there be a sequal to Artemis? It is one of the most engaging and humerous novels I’ve ever read. Long Live! Jaz Bashara

    • Hello! As much as fans like you adore Jazz Bashara and the lunar setting of Artemis, there are currently no confirmed plans for a sequel. Andy Weir has expressed interest in returning to the Artemis universe, noting that the setting was widely praised, even by readers who didn’t like the story .

What we know about the next book: Weir’s publisher, Ballantine Books (part of Penguin Random House), acquired the rights to the untitled novel in June 2024. Likely we will get more information after the Project Hail Mary movie, which is rumored to be released March 2026. As of October 2025, there is no title or confirmed publication date for Weir’s new work.
